The Nuba Collection
The Nuba collection from Gary Wright and Sheila Teague takes its initial inspiration from Africa, the cradle of the human race and develops to embrace signs and symbols that are a shared currency across the world.
Cross cultural references evident since Paleolithic times such as dots, representing the individual surrounded by the cosmos and dashes, showing direction and growth are carved into sculptural breastplate necklaces and rings.
Fine engraving is drawn from tribal markings that often signify a rite of passage and are a vehicle to extend a person into a work of art; a journey from the natural to the supernatural. The choice of materials, soft hued yellow gold highlighted with red; rubies, tiny beads and cords speak of continuity.
Red, literally the colour of blood is a symbol of life and joy and gold the symbol of the sun and optimism. There is a dialectical tension between form and material that is resolved by the wearability and subtle tactility of the pieces. This imbues each design with its unique and distinctive personality.
Available in 18ct yellow gold and silver July 15th.

December 2007
The Foundling Hospital, London's first home for abandoned children, was founded in 1739 by the philanthropist Thomas Coram together with William Hogarth and George Frideric Handel. The Foundling Museum (www.foundlingmuseum.org.uk) tells its history and has now established the Foundling Fellowship with the support of the Clore Duffield Foundation in honour of the founders.
Wright & Teague have created gold pins based on the original Hospital coat of arms, featuring a lamb carrying thyme representing innocence and humility, which were awarded to the inaugural Fellows, Damon Alban, Richard Wentworth and Jacqueline Wilson. During 2008 the three Foundling Fellows will work with the Museum to develop original, creative initiatives for children.

November 2007
Wright & Teague were commissioned to create the historically accurate Accession rings, worn by Cate Blanchett for both 'Elizabeth' and the fabulous newly released sequel 'Elizabeth: The Golden Age.'
